CSD Kids 2021 Recap
God’s Faithfulness in 2021
God’s Faithfulness in 2021
I love Sundays! 2021 was such an amazing year of Sundays plus so much more! I’m so grateful for the way God has shown His providence and revealed Himself in varying ways. Crafting the curriculum, crafts, activities, and seeing those precious ones every Sunday is literally the highlight of my life! I am so, so, so stunned that the Lord has seen fit to choose me to help direct this ministry. It is truly such a gift!
As 2021 comes to a close, I am reflecting on God’s faithfulness and love toward our ministry through the seasons of 2021! So much has happened, it’s hard to know where to start. I’ll start at the beginning…
This time last year, we kicked off our VISION 2021 campaign which consisted of publishing a fresh vision statement, starting a new curriculum – Answers in Genesis, and offering new take-home and family fun resources through the new Parent Connect board in the children’s ministry lobby.
Spring was all things VBS prep and planning! Rocky Railway VBS was an overwhelming success – we had an amazing time enjoying music, bible lessons, and FUN as we learned that Jesus Power Pulls us Through – TRUST JESUS!
Summer 2021 ended with our ‘Made In His Image’ unit where we study the many fascinating ways that God made us just the way we are! We celebrated life and all the many unique ways God’s diversity and creativity are showcased in EVERY life from smallest to oldest! Our prayer for the summer unit was to encourage kids that everything about them and their lives (physical appearance, gender, family, etc.) are characteristics that God created on purpose with a purpose!
As we entered the fall season, it was clear that having a Fall Fest was a little out of our reach as we had so much work to do to organize our storage areas so they were in the best condition possible to serve our ministry interests. As a team, we did a large purge of our mezzanine area and reorganized it so the VBS props, events, facilities, and youth ministry resources are available and operate in functional storage space. Jane and I worked hard to get the Children’s Ministry closets organized and did some minor improvements with regard to cleaning and upgrading classroom functions.
Fall was also a time for a big change as Jane Smith, our beloved co-director decided to retire. She is spending the Christmas and New Year holidays with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren in Thailand. After that, Jane will be preparing to move to Maine where she will be closer to her son, daughter-in-law, and sweet grandson! We are so blessed to have had Jane’s contributions to the Children’s Ministry. She developed a curriculum (Made In His Image), worked tirelessly on ministry projects and outreach, and loves each child and their families as if they are her own! She will be missed greatly!
We finished the year strong with an in-depth, 5-week study of Christmas. The kids might be a little sick of Christmas by now – haha – but I pray that they have a deeper understanding of a very profound truth: Jesus was born to die for them. In the current landscape, it’s easy to be carried away by the hustle and bustle of the world and commercialism. Jesus in the manger is an amazing picture to see at Christmastime, but it is important for the kids to remember that He is also Eternal, Creator, and Savior. I pray that the kids were challenged to reconcile the true meaning of Christmas within their own hearts and every time they see a nativity scene, it will mean something much deeper to them.
I’m so grateful for another year in the books and the privileged opportunity to lead the Children’s Ministry through another year of Sundays in 2022. Happy New Year!
May the Lord bless you and keep you and yours,
Daisy Grau

We believe that we should love the Lord our God with our whole heart, mind, soul and strength. Loving God is our highest call. All ministry flows from a personal relationship with and worship to the living God.
Jesus reminded His disciples, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20).
